In EDCO 3100 and EDFN 4100 we were fortunate enough to participate in a DANCEPL3Y Workshop with Roxane Letterlough. Besides personally enjoying the freedom of this movement activity, this experience was the start of my personal journey to decolonize education and incorporate Indigenous content into my teaching practice. Roxane shared a personal story of the struggles her community has felt with recent discoveries of unmarked graves at residential schools in BC and around the country. Roxane was brave enough to be vulnerable in front of a group, and through her story I felt an intense connection to her pain. This experience showed me the strength that can come from being vulnerable and how sharing pieces of our stories can bring us together.
