In 2015 the Truth and Reconciliation Commission called on the Canadian government to address 94 Calls to Action to guide further reconciliation efforts between the Canadian government and Indigenous groups in Canada. As an educator I feel it is important to be familiar with the Calls to Action that are being expressed by Indigenous communities across Canada so that we can connect with the trauma that has been endured by these communities. Until we start to connect with our painful past and understand the experiences that Indigenous communities lived through under the Canadian government, we cannot truly reconcile our actions.
